Can we turn it around?
It has been the worst slump in the four years I've been curling.
We had lost 10 of our last 13 games before our 9-6 win over Paul Hunt today. This was our second win over a first place team this season.
I do think we have curled just as well as a year ago but where we were coming back to win games last season, we have let leads slip this year.
The boys have been frustrated because we know we are better than 8-15. We are tied for 9th on Thursday [4-7] and tied for 10th on Sunday [4-8] but we still have the belief that can we right the ship.
The good thing about our win today was that we didn't throw in the towel. Down 5-1 with four ends to go it would have been easy to just throw in the towel and get ready for the Goldstar Bonspiel next weekend but we persevered and cut it to 5-4 and then stole two to take the lead.
With the Hunt crew bickering amongst themselves, we played a clean seventh end and forced the skip to take one. Peter made an easy hit and stick for three and the win. A huge monkey off our back and much needed confidence for next week.
Speaking of the Goldstar, we have been looking forward to this for a while, it has been circled on the calendar since Day 1 and we hope to win more than one game. We are there to have a good time and Friday is Darren's 29th birthday so perhaps he'll get lucky on and off the ice.
We will have many pictures from our time down in Meteghan and we will let you know when we have them up...I got a digital camera for XMAS and I'm quite excited about it!
Cheers,
Terry
